The leadership team brings in a bunch of new remote employees in a country with much cheaper labor costs and less stringent labor laws that yours. They ask you to help train them and teach them everything you know so they can “get up to speed quickly.”

And then six months later, they lay off your whole team and keep the offshore workers. You trained your replacement.

If it didn’t happen to you directly, you almost certainly saw it at a company you worked at, or had it happen to a friend.

While Discord maintains that “all details are blurred except your photo and date of birth,” the shift from on-device processing to cloud storage represents a significant departure from previous privacy guarantees.

Unbekannten sei es gelungen, auf Daten im Active Directory, also dem digitalen Nutzerverzeichnis von Microsoft, das die Universität nutzt, zuzugreifen.
Da dabei auch Passwörter in gehashter Form erbeutet wurden, hat das nun unerfreuliche Konsequenzen für sämtliche Studierenden sowie Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter der TU Wien.

Das bedeutete, dass der US-Konzern selbst entschied, wie und zu welchen Zwecken die im Hintergrund gesammelten Informationen verarbeitet wurden – oft unter Verweis auf die allgemeinen Google-Datenschutzbestimmungen. Diese Ära der Unverbindlichkeit geht nun zu Ende.

August wurden bereits 80 Prozent der Rundschreiben aufgehoben. Die noch bestehenden Rundschreiben werden in einem weiteren Schritt überarbeitet. Außerdem gebe es ab kommendem Schuljahr eine Aufstockung bei den Sekretariaten.
